On November 10, 1956, Billie Holiday performed two concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York City to promote her autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues. The performances featured narration from the book and accompaniment by notable jazz musicians such as Coleman Hawkins, Buck Clayton, Roy Eldridge, Al Cohn, and the Chico Hamilton Quintet. Despite her declining health, Holiday delivered a powerful performance that was met with critical acclaim.
