Sally of the Sawdust is a 1925 American silent comedy-drama film directed by D. W. Griffith. The film stars W. C. Fields, Carol Dempster, and Alfred Lunt. It is based on the 1923 stage musical Poppy by Dorothy Donnelly.
The film was released in the United States on August 2, 1925. While it was not nominated for any Academy Awards (the first Academy Awards ceremony was not held until 1929), it was a critical and commercial success, with Fields' performance being particularly praised. It's notable as one of the few surviving films starring W.C. Fields from the silent era, and an interesting example of Griffith's later work when he was experimenting with different genres.
