Edmund Dulac’s illustrations for Tanglewood Tales (1918), Nathaniel Hawthorne’s retelling of Greek myths, showcase his refined watercolor technique and decorative sensibility. Edmund Dulac (1882–1953) was a central figure in the Golden Age of Illustration. French-born and later active in Britain, he gained acclaim for his richly produced gift books in the early twentieth century. His style blended meticulous draftsmanship, jewel-like palettes, and cross-cultural decorative motifs, making him especially suited to fantasy and mythological subjects.

You are purchasing a beautiful piece of art. The image has been carefully digitally remastered, descreened maintaining the fidelity of the original vintage artwork. Please bear in mind that Dulac watercolor paintings when scanned from his vintage books do no have the clinical sharpness of an oil painting or an illustration made of ink or other techiques. Dulac frequently used wet-in-wet techniques to create atmospheric, nocturnal, or "dreamlike" moods. In these areas, the watercolor pigment literally bleeds and spreads, meaning there is no "sharp" edge for a scanner to find. That is part of the beautiful and dreamy vintage look.
Different paper sizes have different aspect ratios. We always give priority to the work of the artist, so try whenever possible to not stretch/expand it, or do it minimally. This means that some paper sizes will have more or less margins on the sides of the artwork, depending on how the aspect ratio of the paper chosen size has in relation to the original aspect ratio of the piece of art.

The print is sold without any framing.

Some mockup images might show how the poster looks framed, so you can have a visual reference how it would look framed, but what is sold on this list is the image printed on the matte paper of your choice without any frame included.

Not every size has an image attached to it as Etsy has a limitation of 10 images to be shown per product , and we offer many times more than 10 different sizes, we also sometimes show how it looks framed or publish high resolution details of the artwork. This makes it not possible to depict every combination of paper and size, so the piece of art will be the same but more or less blank margins might surround it depending on the chose size.

📏📐SIZES:

When you choose the size, you will see that it has 2 measurements, one in the Metric System (cm) and one in the Imperial System (inches). They are very close but not identical If the print destination is in the United States or Canada you will receive the print with the inches value . If the destination is in any country of the rest of the world, you will receive the print in the cm value. For example, if you order a 50x70cm / 20x28". In the US or Canada you would receive a 20x28" print and in any other country in the world a 50x70cm print.
Bear in mind that if you order from a metric system country, but your destination is the US or Canada you that destination will receive the print in the imperial system even if you ordered from a country with the metric system. That is because we work with local laboratories that in those two countries have the paper measures in inches. The same would be true if you order from the US/Canada to send to another place in the world. The destination would receive the equivalent size in cm.

-All items are packaged and protected using strong poster tubes in order to mitigate any potential damage.

Sometimes, depending on the size of the poster and the aspect ratio, the picture might have none or a minor trimming from the original artwork to fit that aspect ratio. We carefully choose the available sizes, so they are as close as possible to the original painting or photograph proportional ratio.
