Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh

Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh, painted in 1888, is an oil-on-canvas still life from his Arles period. The work shows a vase of golden sunflowers at different stages of bloom and decay, set against a pale blue-green background. Its bold yellows, thick impasto, and simplified forms create a radiant yet earthy composition. Van Gogh made the sunflower series to decorate the “Yellow House,” especially for the arrival of Paul Gauguin.

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter known for expressive color, heavy brushwork, and emotionally charged subjects.
