Hispaniae veteris descriptio is a 1619 engraved historical map of ancient Spain, or Hispania, by Abraham Goos, published in Amsterdam in Hondius’s edition of Theatrum geographiae veteris. It uses copperplate engraving, Latin labels, and an inset of the Cádiz region to present classical geography with decorative early modern cartographic style. Abraham Goos was a Dutch engraver and cartographer active in Amsterdam in the early 17th century. Known for precise map engraving, he contributed to major Dutch atlases and helped shape the refined visual language of Golden Age cartography.
