"Casablanca" is a 1942 American romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz. Set during World War II, the film focuses on an American expatriate, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco. Rick is drawn into a conflict when his former lover Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) arrives with her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), a Czech Resistance leader. Rick must choose between his love for Ilsa and helping her and her husband escape from the Nazis.
The film was a critical and commercial success, winning three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It is considered one of the greatest films ever made, known for its memorable characters, quotable dialogue, and timeless themes of love, sacrifice, and hope.
