For a Few Dollars More is a 1965 Spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone. It is the second installment in what is commonly known as the "Dollars Trilogy", following A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and preceding The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). The film stars Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Gian Maria Volontè. In this installment, two bounty hunters, Manco (Eastwood) and Colonel Douglas Mortimer (Van Cleef), are both pursuing the same ruthless outlaw, El Indio (Volontè). They reluctantly join forces to bring him to justice, but their partnership is fraught with tension and mistrust. For a Few Dollars More was released in Italy on December 30, 1965, and in the United States on May 10, 1967.
Like its predecessor, For a Few Dollars More was a massive international success. It is known for its stylish direction, operatic score by Ennio Morricone, and iconic performances by Eastwood and Van Cleef. The film's innovative use of close-ups, long takes, and dramatic pauses helped define the Spaghetti Western genre and influenced countless filmmakers. While it wasn't nominated for any Academy Awards, For a Few Dollars More is considered a classic of Western cinema and a landmark in the career of Sergio Leone.
