"Gone with the Wind" is a sweeping 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Directed by Victor Fleming (who took over from George Cukor and Sam Wood during production), the film stars Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara, Clark Gable as Rhett Butler, Leslie Howard as Ashley Wilkes, and Olivia de Havilland as Melanie Hamilton.  

Set in the American South against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction era, the film tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner, and her turbulent romantic relationships. "Gone with the Wind" was a massive critical and commercial success, winning ten Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director) and becoming a cultural phenomenon. It remains one of the most iconic and enduring films in cinematic history.
